About
BIOGRAPHY
Kathryn Wilson (b. 1982, Kendal) is a Cumbrian-based contemporary artist and alumna of The Ruskin School of Art, Oxford. Her practice investigates the intersection of modern culture and our relationship with water. By synthesizing clean lines with translucent layers of colour, Wilson creates oil paintings of organic forms that evoke a sense of shelter, energy, and well-being. Now working from the Lake District and a member of the Windermere Art Society, she produces immersive works that invite the viewer to bridge the gap between the organic world and the human experience.

STATEMENT
'The inspiration for my work comes from modern culture and our unique relationship with water. The organic forms within the work appear to take on a life of their own, seemingly providing the viewer with perceptions of shelter, protection and energy. Subtle messages of hope and well-being are portrayed, seeking to redefine a subject matter that plays a vital role in life itself. Clean lines and translucent layers of colour invite the viewer to be absorbed by and connect with the work, in doing so to also complete it.'
